Dear Readers, Happy Publication Day to Book of Forbidden Words! Publication day is always a time of mixed emotions - relief, excitement, crippling fear! I am proud of this book as I feel like it is perhaps my most challenging, complicated novel yet, but I’m also terrified that I have failed it, and you, my readers, in some way. Hopefully I am not completely deluded and you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed crafting it! I am planning to celebrate none-the-less and will be having a launch party with family and friends on the 24th February (the UK edition launches on 26th February). When my last book was published, I was stuck inside with a broken leg and publication day came and went with no fanfare whatsoever, so I decided this time I will make sure to mark the event! It is, after all, the culmination of around two years of work and so, however well or not it sells, whatever the feedback, that is worth a celebration! This week I am recording a couple of podcasts and working on some other publicity materials. It is always exciting to be doing these things, and I enjoy it, but it is quite an odd thing for authors who spend most of their days shut away from the world with just their imagination to suddenly be thrust into the limelight and make public appearances. Luckily I do enjoy these and especially chatting to readers and other authors, so I am looking forward to some upcoming events. The weather here in the UK is totally miserable. We have had one sunny day in February, but that was pretty much the first dry day we have had all year, and we are now back to rain once again. There is literally no incentive to go outside!! So, my advice is, stay indoors, escape into a good book, and I’ll see you in the spring!
